Queer Bar Takeover Community Raises $3,120 for Out of Bounds Sports KC

When Queer Bar Takeover first started, the vision was simple: create spaces where LGBTQ+ people could gather, celebrate, and build community. Nearly a decade later, that same vision continues to grow—not only by bringing people together for one unforgettable night, but by investing in organizations that continue building community every day.

We're thrilled to announce that, thanks to the generosity of our community, we raised $3,120 for Out of Bounds Sports KC during our Queer Bar Takeover at CPKC Stadium, home of the Kansas City Current.

One of the things we're most proud of is how easy our community made it to give back. When purchasing tickets, attendees had the option to upgrade their admission to include a Charity Raffle Donation. For just a little more, they received raffle tickets while helping support Out of Bounds Sports KC. Throughout the evening, additional raffle tickets were also available for purchase, giving guests even more opportunities to support the organization and win from an incredible collection of prizes donated by local businesses and community members.

What makes this partnership especially meaningful is that our missions naturally complement one another. Queer Bar Takeover creates spaces where LGBTQ+ people can meet, celebrate, and build connections. Out of Bounds Sports KC helps those connections continue long after the music stops by creating welcoming opportunities to stay active, meet new people, and build lasting friendships through sports. Every dollar raised helps strengthen those opportunities, making it easier for more LGBTQ+ people to find the sense of belonging that comes from being part of a team and a community.

The evening itself was unforgettable. Hundreds of people filled the Club Level overlooking the pitch, enjoying music from DJ Mztekcah, performances by Minti Varieties and Kora Kay, face painting, and the chance to experience one of Kansas City's most iconic venues together. It was another reminder that when our community shows up, we can celebrate while making a real difference.

This donation continues a year of incredible generosity from our attendees. Earlier this year, Queer Bar Takeover raised $4,300 for Our Spot KC and $2,500 for KC Pride. With this latest contribution, our community has now raised $9,920 for local LGBTQ+ organizations through Queer Bar Takeover events in 2026.
