How One Night of Queer Joy Raised More Than $2,500 for KC Pride

Before Pride Month officially arrived, the Kansas City LGBTQ+ community came together under the stars at J. Rieger's Electric Park for the Second Annual Pride Eve White Party. Dressed in white and ready to celebrate, attendees danced, connected, watched a giant Pride flag descend from above, and helped raise more than $2,500 for KC Pride.

This year's event partnered with KC Pride as the Co-Host and Nonprofit Benefactor. Rather than simply attending a party, participants had the opportunity to directly support the organization responsible for bringing Kansas City's Pride Festival and Pride Parade to life each year.

The funds were raised through ticket donations, with every $2 donated earning attendees a raffle ticket. Throughout the evening, guests had the chance to win one of ten raffle prizes generously donated by community partners and supporters. The raffle added an extra layer of excitement to the event while helping generate meaningful support for KC Pride's mission.

KC Pride is powered by volunteers who dedicate countless hours throughout the year to organizing one of the region's largest celebrations of LGBTQ+ visibility, community, and belonging. Their work helps create spaces where queer people can come together, celebrate who they are, and experience the joy and connection that Pride makes possible.

The success of the Pride Eve White Party continues a growing tradition of combining celebration with community impact. Just one month earlier, Queer Bar Takeover raised more than $4,300 for Our Spot KC during its event at Rock Island Bridge. Combined with the funds raised for KC Pride, the community has now generated more than $6,800 for local LGBTQ+ nonprofits through Queer Bar Takeover events in just the past two months.

While the numbers are exciting, the bigger story is what they represent. Every ticket purchased, every raffle ticket entered, and every person who showed up helped strengthen organizations working to support and serve Kansas City's LGBTQ+ community.

Thank you to everyone who attended, donated, volunteered, performed, sponsored raffle prizes, and helped make the evening possible. Together, we officially kicked off Pride Month in Kansas City and demonstrated once again what can happen when community comes together with purpose.

Here's to Pride Month, queer joy, and continuing to support the organizations that help our community thrive.
