We Raised $4,300 for Our Spot KC at Rock Island Bridge

Queer Bar Takeover event at Rock Island Bridge; $4,300 raised. Evening setting with people dining and text highlighting Our Spot KC.

There are nights that feel fun, and then there are nights that feel like something bigger and our takeover at Rock Island Bridge was exactly that.

From the moment people started arriving, you could feel it. The weather showed up, the space was unreal, and the energy was undeniable. Two DJs, two dance floors, and a full bridge of queer people laughing, dancing, and connecting in a way that reminds you why this community is so special. It wasn’t just a party it was a moment.

And in the middle of all that joy, we did something that matters.

Together, we raised $4,300 for Our Spot KC.

For those who may not know, Our Spot KC is doing critical work in Kansas City. They are a lifeline for LGBTQ+ individuals navigating some of the hardest moments in their lives providing access to housing support, food, clothing, and resources for those facing instability. They step in when people have been pushed out, overlooked, or are simply trying to find their footing again. They don’t just offer services they offer dignity, safety, and a path forward.

That’s what makes this so meaningful. The same community that shows up to dance, celebrate, and express themselves is also showing up to take care of each other.

We want to give a huge thank you to the Rock Island Bridge team for welcoming us into such an iconic space and trusting us to bring it to life. To our DJs, Jack Hammr and DJ CQuence, for keeping the energy high all night long. To our performers, Kora Kay and Miniti Varieties, for delivering unforgettable moments. And to the entire Queer Bar Takeover team this doesn’t happen without you.

Most of all, thank you to every single person who came out. You didn’t just attend an event you helped create impact.

This is what it looks like when queer joy and community care come together.
