Need a way to cool off as summer is sizzling? Grab your towel and join us.
On Thursday, August 20th for our inaugural event, Queer Arts Club is joining together to enjoy a raucous and sexy night out with a pre-party and a group outing at: The Ritz, presented by The Unicorn Theatre.
A combination of hijinx, hilarity, and eye-candy make this the perfect dose of culture to celebrate the summer together.

Picture it: 1975. You’re clad in only a bath towel, and you hear a brassy broad belt out: “You gotta have friends!”
That’s the song that Better Midler would use to serenade the queers that crowded into the chaotic gay saunas of the early 1970s.
The place that inspired The Ritz had cavernous pools, disco-dance floors, and a towel-clad crowd gathered to see a rising star. No stranger to this scene, NYC playwright Terrance McNally saw the combination of blue humor in a bathhouse and knew immediately this would be an appealing location for a sexy and funny farce.
McNally wrote the part for his friend Rita Moreno, who brought a campy gravitas and starpower to the character of Googie Gomez, a third rate entertainer who mistakes a mobster for a Broadway Producer.
Rita earned a Tony award which led her to be one of the first “EGOTS” before that was even a term that people used! Here you can get a glimpse of what made her star turn unforgettable!
As directed with the sharp comic sensibility of Abe Reybold and stacked with a cast full of Kansas City legends, this play is our definition of: a sure thing!
Grab two tickets and bring along a good friend, or come solo and leave with a new friend!
Sign up to get a code for a discount ticket and some join us for a pop-up party at The Unicorn Theatre before the show, with disco dancing and drink specials.
This Kick Off Event for Queer Arts Club event will be co-hosted by three of Kansas City staples.
