Party with a Purpose: Q Kansas City’s Halloween Charity Extravaganza

Eight months in, Q Kansas City is doing what we set out to do: build something by and for our community. Nights are packed, energy is high, and the community support is overwhelming and now we’re turning that momentum into impact.

This Halloween weekend — October 24 & 25 — we’re throwing a Charity Extravaganza that lets us celebrate hard while giving back hard. On both nights, 10% of all sales will go toward two organizations doing essential work in Kansas City’s queer community: Our Spot KC and the AIDS Service Foundation of Greater Kansas City.

Friday, October 24 – Sapphic Spell

The sapphics take over, and the night promises fire. Every 30 minutes starting at 11 PM, The Glitterati bring an all-sapphic drag showcase that turns up the heat. The costume contest crowns the boldest, most spell-casting look with $500 in gift cards and bottle service. On the decks: DJ Skittlez keeps the dance floor hot while another DJ (coming soon) brings the energy to the patio.

Red star on a blue circle, text reads "OUR SPOT KC: Empowering the LGBTQ+ Community" below. Simple, bold design.

Upstairs, the Lipstick Lounge glows red... sultry, charged, and alive. Every drink poured fuels the cause, with 10% of sales supporting Our Spot KC, a grassroots nonprofit providing housing, mentorship, and community programs for queer youth and adults.

Our Spot KC operates Lion House, transitional housing for LGBTQ+ individuals and families facing homelessness, and runs programs centered on education, advocacy, and mental health support. Their work helps queer people find safety, stability, and belonging right here in Kansas City.

Saturday, October 25 – Boys of the Night

Saturday unleashes the boys in full force. Kora Kay commands the night, leading the crowd through a wild costume contest where the sexiest, campiest, most jaw-dropping look takes home $500 in gift cards and bottle service. Upstairs, the Red Light Dungeon pulses with heat, while the patio becomes a jockstrap party that’s all sweat and swagger. On the decks: DJ Josh the Wash on the dance floor and another DJ (coming soon) driving the patio.

Text reads "AIDS Service Foundation Kansas City" with a red ribbon symbol. Black and white design; supportive and awareness theme.

Every dollar spent fuels a purpose: 10% of sales benefit the AIDS Service Foundation of Greater Kansas City, which funds HIV prevention, testing, treatment, and education across the metro.

Through partnerships with local organizations like KC CARE Health Center, SAVE Inc., and Hope Care Center, ASFKC ensures that people living with HIV have access to compassionate care and essential services, while continuing to educate the community and fight stigma.

Why It Matters

The support we’ve received from this community isn’t just applause—it’s power. Every night out, every drink ordered, every ticket purchased helps Q reinvest back into Kansas City’s queer ecosystem.

This Halloween, we’re celebrating the power of queer economics—the idea that when our community thrives, we all rise.

Two nights. Two worlds. One purpose: turning queer joy into impact.
